The First Step to Healing
The Upper Chesapeake Health Center for Wound Care at Harford Memorial Hospital has a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals working together to ensure patients receive comprehensive treatment and wound care management personalized to their individual needs.
The team is under the guidance of:
- Sherif H. Osman, M.D., Medical Director
- Mark D. Gonze, M.D., Surgical Director
There are reasons why a wound won’t heal. The Center’s physician specialists and nurses collaborate with the patient’s primary care physician to evaluate the wound, address underlying medical conditions, and review the patient’s history to identify the cause. After a diagnosis has been made, treatment options are discussed with the patient and the process begins to closely monitor the wound and adjust the course of treatment as needed to improve results.
Advanced Technologies in a Healing Environment
If you are one of the 5 million Americans living with chronic, non-healing wounds, the Upper Chesapeake Health Center for Wound Care offers scientifically proven treatment protocols, and advanced wound care technologies. While the Center for Wound Care focuses on delivering comprehensive and advanced wound care, the comfort and needs of our patients are always the primary focus of our team. The team will assist with the scheduling of tests and studies; many of which can be done the same day as the visit. Physician referrals are required for treatment at the Center.
Patient/Family education and support are also integral to wound healing and our team of specialists provides both with each visit. When a patient’s plan of care is complete, a comprehensive report will be sent to the referring physician.
